Teaching our children about gratitude is something we can start at an early age. Studies have shown that daily discussions of gratitude resulted in higher levels of alertness, attentiveness, energy and sleep alertness. People who focus on gratitude also report lower levels of stress and depression.
Understanding and expressing gratitude can start at an early age. We can pause and enjoy the view, marvel at nature or pause to give thanks the family and friends in our lives. Focusing on gratitude can be as simple as asking yourself or your child “What was the best thing that happened today?” or “What are you grateful for today?” or “What made you happy today?” Such questions can focus the entire family on thoughts of gratitude and the positive things in their lives.
Tiny Prints has come up with a great way to get young children to express their thankfulness with a variety of color in thank you cards and notes that are suitable for children of all ages. Lily used her cards to send thank you notes to her grandmother and aunt for some clothing and a diary she received. She enjoyed creating her own custom cards and using different colors to express herself.
One of my US readers will win 30 Color-In Thank You Notes (a $56 value). Lucky you! To enter, simply fill out the form below.
