It’s that time of the year again – spring! With the budding trees and flowers comes a whole slew of pollen that we try to keep at a minimum. Spring in Atlanta brings a coat of yellow, fine dusty pollen that is later followed by a fluffier pollen that coats window screens and outdoor furniture. With seasonal allergies impacting all of our family members, we try to clean the pollen as best we can out of our cars, homes and outdoor furniture.
Spring cleaning time is the perfect time for LYSOL to introduce the concept of Healthing – keeping families as healthy as possible by looking beyond just cleaning and really understanding the concept of disinfecting. With our entire family down for the count with yet another virus, my husband and I were just saying we need to post the great tips LYSOL has and follow them more closely! For example, we don’t really take time to wipe down door handles and other high-traffic areas we all touch.
Spring cleaning for our family isn’t a huge effort as we seem to continuously work on small projects during the year. With two working parents and a daughter in school, it is important for us to take steps to keep healthy all year long and especially avoid the spring allergy sniffles.
We already apply some of LYSOL’s Healthing tips in our house. As a busy working family, we tackle each room at a time instead of making spring cleaning a big, long project. The smaller tasks are much more attainable and leave us feeling a sense of accomplishment. We also get our daughter involved. Last weekend she and I wiped down some of the doorways with LYSOL wipes and it worked perfectly! Lily tackled the bottom portion while I worked on the top portion of the door.
Here are some other great tips from LYSOL:
Know the difference between cleaning and disinfecting! Both are important components of the Healthing process and LYSOL® has products that can help with all related tasks. While cleaning and organizing is certainly important, killing germs on commonly touched surfaces can lower the risk of spreading bacteria and viruses between members of the family. Start with the basics – wipe down easy to reach surfaces and then move onto the little nooks and crannies. Use a disinfectant product, like LYSOL® Disinfecting Wipes, to help ensure you’re killing germs as you clean, and think beyond the usual places. Be sure to clean even the smallest surfaces, such as light switches. Don’t forget to disinfect places that you don’t see or think about often, like the door knobs, cabinet handles or sink drains.
