So, I had envisioned a five part series on the long, arduous process of wiring an outlet for a new fan. Well, today, not one day after the husband disappears into the ceiling space post, and the fan is wired, hung and operational! Dang him! He did this to spite me, didn’t he?
Anyway, New Year’s day started out dreary and rainy so we knew it would be a PJ day at home. Adam and I went in our separate directions, doing what we do best. I cooked a three course meal for the three of us which will ensure numerous containers of leftovers and some frozen items (the Mexican Chicken Hominy soup recipe rocks!!) Lily “made some comfortable sleeping areas” on the couch “since this will take a while.” Guess she remembered the last day’s ordeal.
Then, while Lily assisted in the kitchen, Adam got busy with the fan project. Before we knew it, that wiley weasel had climbed back into the floor/ceiling and was calling out for help. This time, he was armed with “fish tape” courtesy of a Home Depot employee’s suggestion. I climbed up the ladder and pulled the fish tape in. The fan wire was officially through the ceiling hole! Whoo-hoo!
Adam went to get some tool and Lily and I made radish cucumber pepperoni butter bread sandwiches for a snack. We snacked, even fed Adam a little, and played. 20 minutes into our activities, I realized I hadn’t seen Adam for a while. Upon further investigation, it looked like his project was taking off! The base of the fan was hanging from the ceiling. “Make sure it stays up there” I called. Don’t want that crashing down on our heads. I was so impressed, I even offered to rub his back. It’s hard to take a picture of this, so I had to kind of pretend here. He enjoyed it, I think.
Lily and I went along our merry ways again. She painted with water colors while I started some cooking project. Meanwhile, Adam wired the fan into the powder room outlet. He only shocked himself once! Awesome. Next thing we know…..THE FAN PROJECT IS COMPLETE!! It WORKS! It SPINS! It’s BEAUTIFUL! It even has a remote control Thanks, Adam! You rock! And thanks, also, for cleaning off some of the cobwebs while you were up there 🙂 Next up…a new toilet flusher handle-thingy…or maybe the new attic insulation…who knows! Stay tuned!
