We had a lovely time in Perdido Key, Florida. This is our fourth year coming to the area, and this year my parents joined us from Chicago. Lily had a blast seeing her grandparents and frolicking in the water all week long. Perdido Key is such a family-friendly place to stay! The beach was littered with tar balls only a week after our departure. It breaks my heart to think of oil devastating this wonderful beach and the surrounding areas. I am wishing for a quick recovery for the whole gulf, but clearly that is more wishful thinking on my part given the amounts of oil still spilling into the gulf. We had a wonderful time and plan on returning eventually!
Since she's now two and a half, Lily was much more comfortable with the ocean and the pool. When we went for morning walks along the beach, Lily liked to walk closest to the ocean so the water splashed up her legs and body.
What I appreciated more than anything was the week together, regardless of the location. My husband and I both work full time so we value family time. It was so hard to go back to work after a whole week of Lily - the kid is a hoot! We also enjoyed having my parents there, since we see them so rarely. Why did I ever leave Chicago for Atlanta? Oh yeah...the hubby's job search at TheLadders lead us to Atlanta!
Our next vacation is a trip to Tennessee for the mother in law's second marriage, then another short beach trip over Labor Day, then a trip to Disney! I have been researching Disney World packages for a little while and getting close to settling on a hotel. We will go close to Lily's third birthday, and I am sure we will all have a wonderful time.

Glad you had fun! My Grandfather has a house on Perdido Key down by the marina! Used to love to go there for the summer

I'm so glad you got to take your trip to Florida before the beaches got hit with the oil.
Why didn't Obama let the Dutch come in and start cleaning up the third day of the spill like they wanted. No, he said BP needed to clean it up. Yet, if the Dutch had the machines and the ability they should have been allowed and not blocked by Obama. There were many other things that were blocked that first week too. I think our government wanted something bigger and grander in the horrible scale to happen, so they would look like super hero's when they finally would step in and take over. Yet, they blocked and even missed out on many opportunities to turn this situation into a win-win for all and the environment that very first week. If the government finally does take over at this point in the game, I think it's a little to little and a little too late in my book. They should have taken over at the get go and then just gave the bill to BP. This waiting around thing has to stop with our government. I mean the Hurricane Katrina thing and help there was too slow and too little back in the past. Doesn't our government ever learn from their past mistakes? Sorry, I'm on a soap box and shouldn't use your blog for this.

What fun photos! We've been waiting since April to go to the beach, but it's only now that the weather is getting warm enough. So we might just hit it this weekend! :)

What great pictures Aleksandra. I love them especially the one with yo uand Lilly on the balcony and all you can see is water. I'm so jealous. Have fun!!
